Old Times

We went to church this morning. It was a good service, but a little long. Sue and I thought of times when we were young and went to church on Sunday mornings and they had a penny march. All the kids marched up to the front of the church and put there pennies in the offering plate. This wasn't much money, but it taught the kids to give and they really enjoyed it.

Also everybody who had a birthday in the past week came up front and counted their offering
into the offering plate. They put in a penny for each year and this was also fun.

They also used to have the children come to the front and sing their songs with an adult leader of course. I remember one in particular. They would sing deep and wide and Doug Colosio would would giggle every time they left out a word and just went through the motions. This was long ago and kids having fun. Why did they stop doing this. I miss it.

A very happy birthday to you,
A very happy birthday to you,
May you feel Jesus near
every day of the year...

I loved that, going up front on my birthday and having the whole church acknowledge me! LOL (And then getting to pick a gift out of the gift basket. Woohoo!!)
